Equations of motion are equations that describe the behavior of a system in terms of its motion as a function of time (1) . Sometimes the term refers to the differential equations that the system satisfies (2), and sometimes to the solutions to those equations (3).

Examples:
- v=u+at is the equation of motion of a particle moving with a velocity v at time t. Here, u is the intial velocity of the particle and a, the acceleration of it.
- F=ma is the famous Newton's equation. This is a differential equation since a=dv/dt and v=dx/dt where x is the displacement of the object. Where m is the mass of the object.
- x=Asin(wt) is another equation of motion and this is the solution of newton's equation for oscillating sytems. Here, w is the angular frequency of the oscillating system (ex: simple pendulum).
